The home of the original Gee's Bend Quilters started with the Gee's Bend Quilters Collective with at least 40 women quilters back in 2000.  Several of the original quilters remained with the quilt collective until their death.  China Pettway, who is one of the original quilters of the Gee's Bend Quilters Collective, still remains with the quilt collective along with Mary Ann Pettway, who joined the collective in 2006 as the Manager of the Gee's Bend Quilters Collective at the request of her daughters' grandmother, Arlonzia Pettway(an original Gee's Bend Quilter). 

    Today, Mary Ann Pettway and China Pettway, two of the remaining quilters of the Gee's Bend Quilters Collective, continue to travel and showcase their work while giving the public insight into their lives and how each one of their quilts tells a story.  They have been hosting visitors at the Gee's Bend Quilters Collective for over 20 years while also providing public quilting workshops and lectures, and still today continue to travel showcasing the intricate details of their quilts and sharing how the quilts came about.  Several of their public visitors at the Gee's Bend Quilters Collective included Governors of Alabama, Bob Riley who came in 2006 to join the women of the Gee's Bend Quilters Collective in celebrating the return of the Gee's Bend Ferry, Governor Kay Ivey visited February 2017 celebrating the arrival of the Gee's Bend Ferry, Senator John McCain who visited in April 21, 2008, and Senator Richard Shelby who visited the Collective in February 2007.  Still today, Mary Ann and China Pettway continue to host workshops and lectures at the Collective as well as throughout the United States with lots of story telling, quilting, and singing of gospel songs.
